Thank you Ron Paul. There I got it out. If I were given the opportunity to talk with him on a personal level that is what I would say to him. Thank you. Of course I want to thank him for serving his country and standing up for individual rights of all Americans, but my thank you is on a much more personal level.
Back in 2008 I was your typical American. I carried credit cards, huge mortgage, car payments, etc. I got my news at 5 o'clock and really paid no attention to politics. I was weary of war, but had a distrust towards Islam because of 9/11 therefore I saw that war was needed to "keep us safe." I thought politics was a dirty business and that our freedoms were being infringed upon.....but again, not too concerned about it as my life was comfortable overall. Personal problems also had me a bit distracted. In 2008 to 2009 I was reading many books on Islam and was directing much of my anger and attention towards Islam for the freedoms lost in this country when I came across a video of Ron Paul on youtube that changed everything...this is that video.
http://objectsinmotion.org The moral and constitutional obligations of our representatives in Washington are to protect our liberty, not coddle the world, precipitating no-win wars, while bringing bankruptcy and economic turmoil to our people. - Congressman Ron Paul http://ronpaul2008.com
The second half of this video made me take a complete turnaround in regards to my stance on our foreign policy. It starts at 4:25 and I request all that are reading this to watch from 4:25 to the end of that video. Of course I was not convinced just by this video, but it did lead me to start really looking into being a active "libertarian." I started reading everything I could in regards to Ron Paul and the Libertarian Party. It wasnt a big jump for me. I have always been one who has questioned authority. When I was a child my father would tell me to do something I would usually respond with "WHY?" I was the same in school "Why?" Liberty was always something that has been important to me. I do not believe that a central being has the answers for every individual.
Then last spring he announced that he would run for President. I then contacted his Campaign and I was soon working as a County Coordinator for his campaign. I have never done anything like this before. Here I was, Marshall James calling up people, organizing meetings, conversing with others that were like minded. I found it liberating, to know there were others like me in the world.
This spring we had our GOP primary. Ron Paul won the straw poll in my county and of course we had the most delegates, at 45%. My county was not a Ron Paul county back in 2008 but it was in 2012 and I felt proud that I may have had a part in increasing the liberty movement in my county. Of course I am also involved on Newsvine in promoting Ron Paul over the last few years and have convinced a few in regards to liberty.
I now read constantly and always have a book in my hand. I live a much simpler life. I have rejected the status quo corporation led ideology of debt. I am a tireless promoter of liberty to everyone who meets me. I get told often that I should run for office. I have a true passion and I believe that others can see my passion and how genuine it is.
This is my 100th article. I find it only obvious that for that milestone I recognize the man who got me involved and concerned.
Thank you Ron Paul for serving your country in the military.

Thank you Ron Paul for curing my apathy.
