The original film clip for the 1968 single but with the Giles Martin's mix from 2006 LOVE as soundtrack (minus the intro and outro which have been edited).
Is it a time to revive this song? Is it time for a Revolution? In many ways our Country is worse off now than in 1968. The solutions that came out of the 60's only worsened the problems as those hippies who had good intentions didn't see what the true problem was. In the end they gave the problem more power. Push play above if you so choose for background as we dive into this.
You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
All right, all right
What happened to the movement of peace from the 60's? I am in complete agreement with the philosophy of peace. Yet however you see many of these hippies now calling for war. There are always reasons, a dictator here, a dictator there....lets go to war. Injustice here, lets bomb them. We still have embragos on Cuba. We place sanctions on countries as an alternative to war yet in many cases it turns out to be worse than war. Back in the 90's under Clinton our sanctions on Iraq resulted in the deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children. That led to the interview by Madeline Albright where she stated that those deaths were "worth it." Really? How is killing half a million children worth anything? What is even crazier is some of those hippies from the 60's that are upset now over Syria and are calling for war due to tens of thousands completely ignore the United States KILLING a half a million children in the 90's. How is that better? How about treating others with respect? How about free trade with other countries? How about ceasing to interfere with the internal workings of other countries? How about preaching love and tolerance vs hate and intolerance?
You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money
For people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
All right, all right
Those words above are some of the most important in this song in my opinion. What is the solution to this? Is the solution taking more money from the middle class and poor to give to rich corporations whose business is war? Really? Is the solution taking from the middle class of this country to give to the rich in other countries i.e. foreign aid? Really? It is so funny that war seems to profit the rich and the middle class and poor get to be used as slaves. That is right..slaves. We are forced to pay for these corporations and dictators to make money. One year we are giving money to a dictator and a friend...the next we are giving money to bomb them. We not only are forced to work to pay for this but our bodies are used as cannon fodder. How many people need to die for the rich? Why cant we reject the rich using us like this? Why do we fall for their games?
You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
All right, all right
All right, all right, all right
All right, all right, all right
It is time to free our minds. It is time to reject this notion of war and prosperity brought on by war. War only brings destruction. We are forced to pay corporations to make the bombs...we are then forced to pay the military to use the bombs, then we are forced to pay corporations to rebuild what our money bought to begin with!!! What type of insanity is this? How do the people not see what is going on? We now have a government that ignores the Constitution. The executive branch can now take us to war via the War Powers Act. You have a a President who consults NATO on military actions and not CONGRESS!! Then you have people like democrat Anita Dunn who thinks that Chairman Mao was a great philosopher. A man who killed tens of millions of people is a great philosopher????? What is going on?
Freedom and peace is our answer. Lets stop propping up corporations through war. Stop giving into fear propagated by corporations to get us to pay for war.
lets stop this game.
