There are pros and cons to EVERYTHING!! Sometimes an item that is good for us can also be bad for us. Sometimes bad things happen and people die. Lets go over a few here.
Water
From 2005-2009, there were an average of 3,533 fatal unintentional drownings (non-boating related) annually in the United States — about ten deaths per day. An additional 347 people died each year from drowning in boating-related incidents.2
Cars
approx 30,000 to 40,000 deaths per year.
Electricity
411 people died from electrocutions in the US 2001 (US Consumer Product Safety)
Sports
The estimated annual death rates were 7.5 and 1.3 deaths per million male and female athletes.
Healthcare
According to several research studies in the last decade, a total of 225,000 Americans per year have died as a result of their medical treatments:
Food
According to the National Institutes of Health, obesity and overweight together are the second leading cause of preventable death in the United States, close behind tobacco use (3). An estimated 300,000 deaths per year are due to the obesity epidemic (57).
GUNS......OH THOSE BAD THINGS
31,236 firearm-related deaths nationwide (good for a rate of 10.19 per 100,000 people)
We are guaranteed a right to own firearms. To even think an answer to this problem is to turn our back on freedom and our Constitution is insanity in my opinion. Life is not without risk. There will always be bad things that happen. There will always be injustice. To fall into wanting to give up liberty for security because of a tragic event is just nonsense. Those who seek power and to control others will use events such as last week to grab that power. They use fear and emotion to control the public.
STOP GIVING INTO FEAR!!!!!
Life is dangerous.....please for goodness sakes....stop giving into fear. there are many dangerous things in this world. You may have no need for guns, but that does not mean that others do not, I may not have a need for sports...doesnt mean I think we should get rid of it because some students die in it.
There are many benefits to owning a gun. Self protection from home invasions and looting in tragic situations. Hunting of course is the most often cited. Protection from oppressive government. Protection from foreign countries that wish to invade. It is a deterrent whether you want to admit it or not.
Here is a table on deaths. See how far down guns are? If people truly cared about humanity they would start attacking the number one issue. Not one at the bottom. Lets use some common sense here.

Nearly all of these are related to decisions made by individuals that were wrong. Maybe EDUCATION would be a good thing? Remember the argument on sex? On teen pregnancy? It was common knowledge that ABSTINENCE was not the answer but EDUCATION. So what makes you think guns are any different? Maybe we should stop being afraid of guns and start educating our children on how to use them safely? Maybe if a certain segment of our society did not villianize them then schools would of allowed them to be on the grounds and the teachers could of saved their children instead of waiting there to be slaughtered holding onto the kids like animals in a trap?
It is time to embrace freedom and the uncertainty of life.
PEACE
